The key factor, to succeed in developing Energy Culture in everyone’s life, is saving energy. The biggest challenge in the energy sector now is tackling climate change. Unfortunately, climate change is happening, and it is having an impact on the environment, the economy and society.

As front runners in the aluminium industry, energy sensitivity in the design of buildings and the problem of environmental impact are a daily concern in our design approaches. Our goal is to minimize the energy consumed and reduce the pollutants that harm the environment.

ENERGY UPGRADING

New Project 2021 08 05T180116.357

Reducing energy consumption is becoming increasingly important. The target to reduce annual energy consumption in the EU by at least 32.5% by 2030 is a major proof of this. An equally necessary step is to improve the thermal efficiency of buildings. More efficient buildings could eliminate a significant proportion of domestic energy consumption. With the energy upgrade, we have a long-term and directly rewarding investment in this sector. We contribute directly to improving the economy and the quality of life and at the same time we protect the environment.

  • In EU countries, the buildings sector consumes, on average, 40% of total energy consumption
  • In Greece it is around 30%. The annual energy consumption, depending on the type of building, is 156-375 Kwh/m2, three times higher than the corresponding energy consumption in Finland.
  • According to the energy balance for 2017, energy consumption related to buildings in Greece accounts for 42% of the total final energy consumption in the country.
  • Residential buildings are one of the most important energy consumers in the country, accounting for the largest share of the building stock (79%).
  • 84% of buildings built before 1980 have very low energy efficiency (category H buildings), with the most energy-intensive residential buildings being detached houses.

 FUNDED PROJECTS

The necessity of renovating the building sector in Greece is therefore undeniable, as this will simultaneously achieve significant energy savings, cost savings for citizens, improvement of daily living conditions and comfort, as well as the safety and health of citizens during the use of these buildings.

The building sector has a high energy saving potential since most of the buildings were built before 1980. 4 million buildings are currently classified as thermally unprotected and in need of energy upgrading.

To promote policies to improve energy efficiency in buildings, energy saving programs, co-funded by EU funds, are running and are characterized by their ability to deliver direct energy and other benefits to owners and asset managers, while making a key contribution to the gradual transition to a more efficient and environmentally friendly national energy system.

Aluminco’s latest generation aluminium systems successfully answer a multitude of questions and challenges, focusing on achieving the maximum potential energy savings and thus contributing significantly to the reduction of energy consumption. Enviable energy efficiency combined with cutting-edge design, offer top-of-the-range frames that exceed energy targets and maximize efficiencies. Systems with the ideal specifications for Subsidized Energy Savings Programs such as the exoikonomo program.
